Our infusion set is all set to offer you the convenience for all active individuals. An infusion set connects the insulin pump delivery device to your body. An infusion set is a complete tubing system, changed every 2-3 days, which delivers insulin from the insulin pump to your body. Finding the right infusion set is integral and important to insulin delivery.
Needle sizes and lengths are important based on the purpose of each needle.
The needle gauge is taken into consideration if the vein of the patient is narrow or fragile. The most common needle sizes are 18 gauge, 20 gauge, and 22 gauge. As the gauge number increases the diameter of the needle gets smaller.
For needle lengths, a longer or shorter needle may be needed depending on the patient's weight. These are the common needle lengths available; 1.5 inches, 2 inches, and 2.5 inches.
Both the needle and syringe must be thrown away once they have been used. It is medically unsafe to change the needle and reuse the syringe. This practice can transmit or put patients in danger of contracting diseases Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B, and even HIV.
In medical settings, autoclaves are used to sterilise needles and other medical equipment. The moist heat is an effective way to kill the microorganisms present in the injection needle.
One of the major differences between an infusion and an injection is the time of administration. Injections are often done within minutes while infusions can be between 30 minutes to several hours depending on different factors.
Also injecting a patient involves using a syringe and being careful about the process, on the other hand, an infusion is done with an IV bag hung up and tubing and needle in the vein of the patient. The fluid will then drip from the bag into the tube and then into the patient’s body.
While choosing injection needles and syringes it’s important to carefully select them according to the type of injection to be administered. The length, gauge of needles and types of syringes must be suitable for the injection site, the volume of medication and viscosity.
The first number of the needle label is the gauge— which is how thick the needle is. Once the number gets higher it means the needle is thinner.
The second number on the label shows how long the needle is.
A longer needle is required if the medication is going into the patient’s muscle.
