Medical Face Masks & Visors

A visor mask, or face shield, is a clear plastic barrier that covers the face, extending from the forehead down to the chin, protecting the eyes, nose, and mouth from splashes, sprays, and droplets.

Wear a face mask for general protection, especially in crowded or enclosed spaces. A face visor or shield can be worn in addition to a mask for added protection, particularly to guard the eyes, but it should not replace a mask.

Masks include cloth masks, surgical masks, N95 respirators, and KN95 masks. Cloth masks are reusable and made of fabric. Surgical masks are disposable and offer moderate protection. N95 and KN95 masks offer high filtration efficiency and are used in medical and high-risk settings.

Use a face mask when you are in public spaces, especially where social distancing is difficult, like grocery stores or public transport. Masks are also essential in healthcare settings or when caring for someone who is sick.

Face masks help to prevent the spread of respiratory droplets, protecting both the wearer and others from infections such as the flu or COVID-19.

A Type II face mask is a European standard surgical mask with a bacterial filtration efficiency of over 98%. It is used for preventing the spread of bacteria from the wearer to others.
