For over 50 years, Mediworld has been a leading UK distributor of medical, surgical, dental and rehabilitation equipment. We work exclusively with manufacturers in the supply of our own branded surgical instruments, glucose monitors and sutures.

Our large network of suppliers means we have a diverse range of medical equipment that we supply into NHS & private hospitals and medical organisations & professionals throughout the UK.

The second arm to the business is our work with charities and aid agencies both within the UK and overseas. For over 40 years, Mediworld has supplied some of the largest charities in the UK on their humanitarian projects and our work with several UN agencies has seen us supply life-saving and life-enhancing equipment to international aid missions in nearly 60 countries.

Our Story Begins

Founded in 1973

Originally trading as Pan Servico Surgical Ltd, our founders, Ikram and Madge (pictured above) opened a small showroom on Streatham High Road in leafy South London, primarily selling surgical instruments to local doctors and surgeons. As their reputation grew, customers travelled from further afield and many started to request products that were not part of the surgical instrument range. In a time before the smartphone and search engine, Madge & Ikram’s willingness to source non-stock items was a godsend for their clients, an inherent trait that runs through the business to this day.

Rebrand in 1985

Having spent over a decade building a reputable name and business, the dynamic duo took the brave decision to rename the business to Mediworld, so as to better reflect the range of products that were now on offer. A range that had expanded to a full range of medical and surgical equipment as well as an extensive range of mobility and rehabilitation products.

New Generation

In 1986, the business received a youthful injection when Ikram & Madge’s eldest son, Shehzad, joined full time. Along with a new energy, Shehzad brought new ideas and launched Mediworld’s export division. Becoming an official supplier to several UN agencies, Mediworld started delivering medical and rehab equipment to countries around the globe that had been affected by conflict and natural disasters.

A New Millenia

2004 saw the addition to the team of Madge & Ikram’s youngest son, Naveed, who introduced a number of systems to ensure the growth of business was managed as seamlessly as possible. A complete Quality Management System was put in place as well as environmental, HR & safety policies. In addition, Naveed led a growth in our work with the private hospital and clinic sector and developed long-standing relationships with many small independents and larger groups such as HCA Healthcare.

3rd Generation

Madge & Ikram’s grandson, Hamid, joined the business in September 2021 and having a strong digital background he has overseen a complete overhaul of the website and digital platforms during his short time here. Since taking the reins as CEO, he has led the company through a period of growth and expanded the team as well as overseeing our move to our new head office in the heart of London.

Throughout all this change and growth, we have had a fantastic team who share the same dedication and empathy as our founders. Many of whom have had a lasting impact on both our customers and business partners alike. James Quinn, Charmaine MacDonald, Fran Williams, George Abraham, Tariq Khan, Natalia Bugno are just same of the names who helped make Mediworld what it is today.

Our Values

Over the course of time, we have developed values that we hold true to our heart.

Our values spell out the acronym FEEL. We want to spark a feeling for both our customers and employees. These can be multiple feelings. A feeling of making a significant impact in our community. A feeling of protecting our society. A feeling of empowering our customers. A feeling of gratitude when a customer receives a product. A feeling of security and comfort. We are a support bubble for our customers. Our goal and purpose is to empower our communities, and enable our businesses to thrive.

F

Flexibility – this translates to both how our staff work, and how we approach our customers' problems. Flexible to help the needs of the customer. We want the customer to know they have multiple options on how they can buy – pick up in-store, buy through the website, hold the stock for them. We accommodate.

E

Empowerment - Empowered employees are more engaged and excited about what they do. It gives you the freedom to learn, generate ideas and feel more autonomy. Empowering patients allocates a sense of control that is often lost in the healthcare industry, making our community feel more comfortable.

E

Excellence – Continuously striving to be the best and invest in yourself, your colleagues, your quality outcomes and the future. This is a continuous journey that we are embarking on.

L

Legacy – A company legacy that values family and has family built into it, values the structural, functional, and behavioural attributes that make each family unique. This is at the core of our business. We want to help your children, your parents, your grandparents, your partners etc. A company that is here for you at every stage of life.
