A Mediworld UpdateIn 1973 Ikram & Madge Khan embarked on a journey that over half a century later we are privileged to continue. The goal has always remained the same: to provide the best possible products at the most affordable prices with a level of personal service that is unmatched.The last 50 years has seen big changes within a business that started out as a retail shop on Streatham High Road selling surgical instruments to local doctors. We have since grown our stock to include a full range of medical, surgical, dental and mobility products that we now sell in store and online to a wide range of medical professionals, care homes, medical schools, clinics and teaching centres throughout the UK. For over 30 years we have been approved and trusted suppliers to the NHS and private hospitals as well as the United Nations and international aid agencies. Our work with these bodies have seen us supply equipment to and impart training in over 50 countries around the world. During this time we have seen the rise of the digital world and the last 15 years has seen the introduction of our online store and various social media channels. Our website is constantly evolving, with 4 design and format revamps in the last 5 years alone. During the last 10 years many of our local patrons who would traditionally buy in-store, have found it far easier to shop online with us and the COVID-19 pandemic really accelerated this change.We have continuously upgraded our website to include buying guides, how-to guides and product comparisons and we are regularly fine-tuning the checkout process. Many of our clients now enjoy the freedom to browse from the comfort of their own laptop/mobile/tablet at times that suit their own schedules without the need to brave the elements or book an appointment.The FutureAfter much discussion with our in-store customers, we have decided to move our retail 100% online and later this year the physical shop opposite Streatham Common park will close it’s doors. We are co-ordinating this with other exciting developments within the company; our warehouse and packing department is moving to a dedicated distribution centre and our head office is relocating to a more central location in the heart of London. We are very excited to share this news and we look forward to you all joining us on this new adventure.Whilst we are physically leaving our spiritual home in Streatham, the same team will still be available via the usual channels by phone, email, web chat, WhatsApp, Facebook, X & Instagram.In due course we will be confirming the exact dates of our physical move but in the meantime we’d love the chance to say a farewell to as many of you in person as we can. In the coming months we’ll be hosting “Special Offer” Days where certain product lines will be significantly discounted when purchasing in-store.
